I'd like to use it as PC monitor, to replace my 3 vertical screens setup. I have a GFX 1080Ti 11GB and I have a few questions:
1. Is it possible?
2. What frequency I can get?
3. Is it possible to use 2 x HDMI 2.0b cables to reach 60Hz at 8k?
Thank you!
Greetings,1. It is not possible
2. You cannot run 8K on HDMI version 2.0b due to its limited bandwidth.
3. It is not possible to simply combine the bandwidth of two HDMI cables. You would need an HDMI 2.1 connectivity for 8K support. HDMI 2.1 also natively supports only 8K at 30 Hz, DSC (Display Stream Compression) is needed for 60 Hz to even run on an HDMI 2.1 connection. If it was possible, you couldn't even play any games on that PC. All games would be very laggy. The HDMI 2.1 connectivity isn't even located on the latest 2080-Ti. Wish you have a great day.
@Milan1911: Thanks for the answer. About point 1 and 2, I read that should be possible to have 8k at 30Hz using a DP 1.4 to HTMI 2.0 cable. Is this specific TV supporting not it?
@mcmorry: Yes. DisplayPort in version 2.0 supports 8k on a 30 Hz refresh rate, however, you would still be limited to HDMI 2.0 bandwidth at the end, so this setup wouldn't run 8k.From what I see in the specification of the product on the manufacturer's website, just to make sure, this TV doesn't have any sort of DisplayPort connectivity. You would need to have DisplayPort 2.0 connectivity converted to HDMI 2.1, however, even the 2080-Ti doesn't have DisplayPort in version 2.0.
